The Role
As Associate Director - Tax Advisory, you'll play a key leadership role shaping the firm's Australian tax practice. You'll deliver strategic advice, manage complex cross-border tax matters, and act as the registered Tax Agent. This role is ideal for a technically strong and commercially minded professional who thrives on variety, responsibility and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance and advisory matters for the Australian group.
- Provide expert advice on domestic and cross-border taxation, structuring and planning.
- Lead technical reviews and sign-off on tax returns, FBT, ESS and R&D submissions.
- Support the Head of Tax in managing practice performance, budgets and staff development.
- Advise senior management on group tax positions and governance.
- Liaise with the ATO and external advisors on complex issues.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative culture.
- Contribute to business development and strategic growth initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- CA/CPA qualified; CTA or Master of Tax highly regarded.
- 10+ years' Australian tax and business advisory experience, ideally from a mid-tier, boutique or corporate environment.
- Deep technical tax knowledge and strong commercial judgement.
- Proven leadership and client relationship management skills.
- Experience with SMEs, family groups, or managed funds an advantage.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and providing pragmatic, risk-aware advice.
