Clients range from high-net-worth individuals, family groups and privately owned businesses to investment structures and international interests, with services spanning tax compliance, advisory, restructures, estate planning and complex tax legal matters.
Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking a Tax Director to play a pivotal role between the Tax Legal and Accounting & Tax teams, helping deliver integrated advice and high-quality outcomes for clients.
The Role
This is a senior leadership role sitting at the intersection of tax compliance, advisory and tax legal strategy. The Tax Director will work closely with Partners and senior stakeholders across the firm to ensure seamless collaboration between teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting Partners with technical review of complex tax compliance work across a diverse client base.
- Acting as a key bridge between the Accounting & Tax team and the Tax Legal team.
- Assisting with tax advisory matters, including restructures, transactions, structuring and strategic tax planning.
- Reviewing and advising on complex entity structures including trusts, companies, partnerships and investment vehicles.
- Providing guidance on ATO matters, disputes and regulatory considerations where required.
- Mentoring senior staff and supporting the development of the broader tax team.
- Working collaboratively across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
- This role offers the opportunity to operate at a strategic level while remaining hands-on in technically complex work.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership and commercial thinking.
You will likely have:
- Extensive experience in tax advisory and compliance within a professional services environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation, particularly in relation to private clients, business structures and investment entities.
- Experience reviewing complex tax compliance work and providing high-level technical guidance.
- Exposure to structuring, transactions, tax planning and advisory projects.
- The ability to work effectively with both accounting and legal professionals on complex matters.
- CA/CPA and/or legal or tax qualifications (e.g. CTA, Masters of Tax) highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with sophisticated clients and internal stakeholders.
